Richard Bogart

b. 1929 , Highland Park , MI - d. 2018

A graduate of the prestigious Black Mountain College (1956), painter Richard Bogart is best known for his rich, atmospheric landscape paintings. Working predominantly with oil paints on linen canvas, Bogart utilizes the sfumato technique to blend saturated colors with neutral tones to produce peaceful, mesmerizing landscapes. Often depicting lush trees lining still waters, this soft blurring creates a misty quality which obscures any identify features of scene, instead mood and atmosphere above a particular location.
